What are Custom Fields?
Custom Fields allow you to make changes to the information in your Data Feed to easily edit and update your custom ad campaigns on Spaceboost.

Spaceboost allows you to create comprehensive ad campaigns with ads that combine information about the products you want to advertise. This is possible because the information is separated into different fields, including categories, brand, location, price, URL, and more. All of this is uploaded to our platform in Data Feeds.

With the Custom Fields function, instead of uploading an entirely new feed every time you want to make a change to your ad structure, you can edit the information in a Data Feed you already uploaded to Spaceboost, creating a new row with the new information. It also allows you to make sure the information you have uploaded is appropriate, optimal, and ready for the creation of your ad campaigns.
From this new custom column, you’ll be able to create quickly and easily create more targeted, better quality ad structures.
How to create a Custom Field
When you upload a Data Feed and you arrive at Step 3, ‘Validate’, as well as approving each of the fields that will be created from the columns that are in your feed, below you also have the option to ‘Create a Custom field’.
How does it work?
When you click the “Create Custom Field” button a panel will appear giving you 3 options to choose from.
You will need to name this new field and then select from 3 options: Replace, Merge, and Reduce.
Replace: This operation allows you to replace a number or text string with another number, text string, or a blank text string.
EXAMPLE: Say you have migrated your website from “.com” to “.co.uk” and you want to update your ads to reflect this change in the landing page. In your Feed, you can search for the column “URL”. Within that column, you can find the text string “.com” and replace it for the text string “.co.uk”
Then you will have a new, custom field with the correct landing page URLs, which you can use to create the correct ad campaigns straight away.
Note: The existing row will still exist, but you can now use the newly created row, to create your campaigns.
Merge: This option allows you to create a new field by combining existing fields from your Feed and/or manually introduced text. You can combine up to 6 different fields or text strings into one merged field.
EXAMPLE: Let’s suppose that inside your feed you have the generic URL to your homepage - www.nike. com, but you want your ads to redirect to specific product pages, like running shoes. You can add the correct path to the feed, combining the field home page, the text “/” and the field product page.
The resulting custom field from this merge will be “https:// nike.com/running-shoes”.
Reduce: With this option, you can select a field and reduce it to any of the first five words from an existing field, starting from the beginning.
Note: If you want to remove a specific part of the field, you need to use the “Replace” option, and replace the text you don’t want with a blank text string.
EXAMPLE: Say you want to reduce the phrase “anti aging cream” to “anti aging”, you need to select the field - “Product” and select the first two words. This will shorten the phrase to the number of words you desire.
Please note that only one action from Replace, Merge, and Reduce can be applied to a single custom field. You can’t combine two custom fields.
